UCTS Responds: 4300 units of face shield for front-liners in Sarawak

University College of Technology Sarawak was appointed by the Sibu Hospital to develop a prototype of a face shield, a much-required personal protective equipment for health staff to wear in caring for patients with suspected/confirmed COVID-19 virus. The face shields were used by the healthcare worker in Sibu Hospital, as well as those in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH). The initial 3D printing and laser-cut frame designs were obtained from the 3D printing Malaysia Community. However, the design has to be further improved to meet the local requirements and considerations. There were three main considerations in developing the face shield prototype; Design Appropriateness, Materials Characteristic and Production Technology. UCTS: LECTURERS EQUIPPED IN BIM TECHNOLOGY

Saturday, 30 November 2019, Sibu: The School of Built Environment (SBE) of University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) is enhancing its undergraduate architecture programme in Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. A total of eleven lecturers of SBE attended the BIM introductory talks during the four days ARCHLine.XP Gateway to BIM architecture workshop conducted by Certified ARCHLine.XP Instructor, IDr. Denis Chong. The upcoming ARCHLine.XP BIM workshops will cover the BIM technology in interior design and furniture design.  The school has assigned four committed lecturers in pioneering the implementation of BIM teaching in UCTS, and they completed the first series of ARCHLine.XP workshop in Architecture BIM. 2017/18 S1_Design Studio 1 Architecture Field Trip2 November 2017  l  ArchitectureAs part of the Architecture programme curriculum, for this semester, first year students left UCTS campus on 26th to 29th October 2017 for an excursion to Kuching, Sarawak. This 4 days architectural field trip was organised to expose new students to architectural built environment where the students take photos, sketching and physically experience the spaces.
